SAAD
ADVOCACIA has a team that specializes in occupational
health and safety, engaged in preventive activities as well as
litigation.
In the area of prevention, this team prepares and
implements Programs for the Prevention of Environmental Risks
(PPRAs, in Portuguese), as required by NR-9 of Administrative Ruling
3214/78, as well as providing consulting services in the assessment
and control of environmental risks, such as noise, heat, chemical
agents, etc.
In the area of litigation, it acts as a
technical support in cases involving health hazards and
risk.
It also provides the parameters to be included in
collective bargaining agreements and labor negotiations in relation
to the area of occupational health, safety and medicine.
All
the work of this area is under the direct responsibility
of Industrial Hygienist , who has
over 25 years’ experience in the area and was a member of the
Ministry of Labor and Employment technical workgroups that drafted
NR-15, which deals with Hazardous Activities and Operations, and
NR-9, which deals with the Programs for the Prevention of
Environmental Risks (PPRAs).
Technical
Responsibility
All the work of the area of occupational safety and health is under the technical
responsibility of Engineer , a
highly experienced professional, as is clear from her summary

Irene Ferreira de Souza Duarte Saad, an
Industrial Hygienist with an undergraduate degree in
Chemical Engineering and Safety, with a specialization in
chemical agents from the National
Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (Instituto Nacional
de Hygiene e Seguridad en el Trabajo) of
Spain, has been carrying out studies and research in
the area of Occupational Health for over 25 years. A Fundacentro
researcher since 1975, she was Manager of
her Division of Occupational Health for a number of
years, a member of the study group that drafted the text
of Labor Ministry Administrative Ruling 3214/78’s NR-15. She was a member of
the Technical Group that drafted the text
of the new NR-9, instituting the mandatory
implementation by companies of PPRAs (Programs for the Prevention
of Environmental Risks). Docent for undergraduate and
specialization courses for professionals in the area of
occupational safety, health and medicine. Docent for courses
on Health Hazards and Risks for Labor Court Judges
in São Paulo (1985, 1999 and 2000).
Docent for specialization course in occupational health
offered by Santa Casa/Senac/Fundacentro. Author
of various publications in the area of occupational health, notably
the books “Chemical Risks” and “SILICA –
A Worker’s Manual,” published by FUNDACENTRO, and
Programs for the Prevention of Environmental Risks (PPRAs),
published by ABHO. Governmental representative at ILO conferences
in 1989 and 1990, where the Convention on
Safety in the Use of Chemical Products was
drafted. President of the Brazilian Association of
Industrial Hygienists – ABHO. Member of the
team for translation into the Portuguese of the book “TLVs e
BEIs da ACGIH”. Member of the American Conference of
Governmental Industrial Hygienists - ACGIH. Member of the
American Industrial Hygiene Association - AIHA.
